The port of Ras Laffan in Qatar is leading the way in safety by making it compulsory for any offshore vessel entering the port to have a valid OVID inspection. This came into effect on the 1st January 2014 and will be fully compliant by 1st July 2014. This is a first for any port and shows how the port authorities are focusing on Health & Safety. The move is welcomed by OCIMF and they will no doubt encouraging other ports to follow Ras Laffan’s example.
ADPS offers accredited OVID inspections at clients request and welcomes this move by one of the fastest growing ports in the Middle East which can only benefit all parties involved.
